Tenacious D is comedy rock duo formed by Jack Black and Kyle Gass
in 1994. The band has been described as "mock rock" but has modestly dubbed their selves "the greatest band on Earth".
The band has released two albums, a feature film,
a television series, and a number of movie and television appearances.

Some of Tenacious D's influences include Ronnie James Dio, Black
Sabbath, Meat Loaf, and Led Zeppelin.
In tribute to these rock gods, the band writes and sings about
hard rocking, sexual prowess, friendship, the road, being macho, Satan, and the intake of cannabis.
Interestingly, the band's name came from a description about the
tenacious D-fence of the NBA's New York Knicks by sports commentator Marv Albert.
